Ethics Challenges in Career Services and the Workplace

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the course you will be able to:

  Explain, describe, and/or discuss the relationship between key ethical principals and ethical decision making
  Identify, define, and apply five ethical principles that provide the foundation for ethical behavior
  Demonstrate how personal and professional values impact ethical decision-making
  Identify the psychological impact of unethical behavior in the workplace and the relevant external and internal stressors
  Identify and apply a problem-solving framework and to implement ethical best practices      

Carolyn D. Jones, M. ED, CMCS, CCSP served as the 2023-2024 President of the National Career Development Association (NCDA). She is the President/CEO of CDJ Consulting, LLC. She assists her clients in her private practice with career development strategies and life management. She is also a consultant for non-profit agencies, colleges, universities, organizations and corporations on team building, training, leadership and resource development and is an international presenter on career development. Carolyn holds a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology, is an adept MBTI practitioner and has earned the NCDA Certified Master of Career Services (CMCS) and Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP) credentials. She is a Facilitating Career Development (FCD) Instructor Trainer for the CCSP and Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) credentials.

She has an extensive professional background as a Career Center Executive Director responsible for career development services and experiential education programs.  She served as the  President of the Florida Career Development Association (FCDA) for two terms, Carolyn is a former NCDA State Division Trustee for two three-year terms. She has also served as chair and co-chair of the NCDA Ethics Committee and as a member of the Awards Committee for several years. She has authored and co-authored several articles in the NCDA Career Developments magazine. She is also an International Correspondent representing NCDA and the United States for the International Association for Education and Vocational Guidance (IAEVG).

Carolyn served as the Vice Chair of the Northern New Jersey United Way, Trustee for the Montclair American Red Cross, and as Trustee and Secretary of the State University of New York Maritime College Foundation Board, among others. She also served as the Chair of the Broward County Florida School Board Small Business Advisory Committee.  She is the recipient of the State University of New York Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service and has received several other awards and honors throughout her career.
